UPDATE: Ella has had her thymus transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and is now recovering back at Manchester Children's Hospital

Ella was born needing open heart surgery, but after birth was seriously ill in NICU (newborn intensive care unit), getting constant life threatening infections.

Ella has been diagnosed with Charge Syndrome which will affect her in many ways, some of which won't become apparent until she is older, she will probably need care and support all her life

Other diagnoses include SCID and Complete di-George Syndrome. This basically means Ella has no immune system and is unable to fight even the smallest infection.

As of April 2022 Ella is 14months old, weighs just over 12lbs and has been in hospital all her life.

Treatments included a rare thymus gland transplant at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London

In December 2021 Ella had open heart surgery at Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool. Unfortunately Ella had a cardiac arrest due to sepsis and NEC infections. She is improving slowly which is great, our princess is tube fed and has been intubated and extubated more times than we can count.
